OUGD603 / Research-led Brief / Ceramics / Painting

The stoneware has now been bisque fired and they are ready to paint. They have all shrunk considerably due to losing the water in the clay.

I decided to paint the pots with a doodle approach. The colours seen on them here will change once fired and glazed as they react with the glazes and heat of the kiln. I experimented with different underglazes (which stay vaguely true to colour - the red is an underglaze so it will stay basically the same), as well as oxides and carbonates. These include copper oxide (the black looking colour) this should turn a turquoise / green colour, as well as cobalt carbonate (the purple colour) this should turn a deep blue.

I aimed to keep with a small colour pallet and similar shapes to create the look of a collection.
